Each month the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastside recognizes one young person as Member of the Month. This month it is Giovanni Leonel Bautista, an 8th grader at Cunha. 

Giovanni is a kind, respectful young man who is determined to always do his best! We appreciate that he actively participates in our program with an open mind and adaptable mindset. His hard-working ethic, initiative, and outgoing personality make him a natural leader.

He demonstrates helpfulness at the Club — and at home. For example, his younger brother, Cristiano, couldn’t find the words to communicate that he was upset. Gio instinctively stepped in to help interpret his brother’s feelings for the staff. On the weekends, he loves to help his Dad. He is very thankful for his family!

Gio is also grateful that BGCC is available to provide help with homework, a safe place to hang out and build relationships. At the Club, he loves to hang out with friends and play sports. Gio is a multi-talented sports player, but he particularly loves to play soccer. His superpower is speed — and he really likes the adrenaline rush!

When he grows up, he would like to be a professional soccer player and give back to his community.
