2022 Spring Sports Start Soon!

BGCC offers the following 2022 spring sports for Cunha students (6th-8th grade). Dates shown are Athlete Assessment dates:

·    Girls Soccer: March 28 & 29; 3;30-4:45 on Cunha Soccer Field, #1

·    Boys Soccer: March 28 & 29, 3:30 to 4:45 on Cunha Soccer Field, #1

·    Boys Volleyball: March 28, Cunha Gym

·    Co-ed Tennis: March 28 and 29, 3:30 t0 5 PM at Cuhna Tennis Courts

·    Co-ed Track & Field: March 28, Meet by the Snack Shack on the Field

·    Co-ed Wrestling: March 22, meet in the Cunha Mat Room

Registration Process

Step 1) ALL students must have a sports physical form completed and turned into the Cunha Athletic Director BEFORE trying out for any sport.   Students CANNOT participate in a sport, including tryouts,  without a physical form on file.

Step 2) Once the student-athlete has been selected for a team, they must complete the on-line athletic clearance forms. http://athleticclearance.com

  • Please note:  when completing your athletic clearance forms, you do have the option to upload your sports physical onto the Athletic Clearance website.  

 Step 3) As Cunha Athletics is now part of the Boys and Girls Club of the Coastside, Club membership is required.  There is an annual $30.00 fee. Become a BGCC member: click here

**If your child already had a physical for any of the Cunha Fall or Winter sports, it is good for the 2021/2022 school year.

Basketball is fast approaching!  Sign up now!

7th & 8th grade evaluations will be held on Monday and Tuesday, November 8 & 9 in the Cunha gym.

(6th grade basketball begins in late January.)

A PHYSICAL!

**If your child already had a physical for any of the Cunha Fall sports, it is good for the 2021/2022 school year.

Practices for all fall sports will begin on TUESDAY, August 31st.

Please read the following for locations and times:

6th grade girls volleyball: 330-430pm in the Cunha Gym

7th grade girls volleyball: 430-530pm in the Cunha Gym

8th grade girls volleyball: 530-630pm in the Cunha Gym

Cross Country: 330-430pm out on Cunha Athletic Field #2 (South soccer field)

Flag Football: 330-430pm out on Cunha Athletic Field #1 (North soccer field)

Sign-ups are different than years’ past!  Please be sure to go to www.athleticclearance.com to sign up for your respective sport.  When you complete the athletic clearance process, that is your way of telling me you signed up! 

NOTE: The first couple of practices of volleyball and flag football will be “placement” practices.  We will determine which skill level athletes belong in and create teams accordingly.

UPDATE — Tryouts and team formation for fall sports will begin Tuesday, August 31, 2021.

In order to ensure that all Cunha students have access to middle school sports, the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastside has assumed responsibility for all Cunha Athletics. 

Boys & Girls Club of the Coastside will continue to offer girls and boys the opportunity to participate in:

  • Cross Country-Fall
  • Girls Volleyball-Fall
  • Flag Football-Fall
  • Basketball-Winter
  • Tennis-Spring
  • Track & Field-Spring
  • Boys Volleyball-Spring
  • Wrestling-Spring
  • Soccer-Spring

 

*All sports are No Cuts

Cunha participates in the Art David Athletic League which consists of local middle schools from Half Moon Bay to San Mateo, Redwood City, Belmont, San Carlos, and Palo Alto.   See more at Art David Athletic League
