Member of the Month: Edwin Meza

Each month the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastside recognizes one young person as Member of the Month. This month it is Edwin Meza, an 8th grader at Cunha.

“Edwin is always helping others! He finds a way to help the staff with anything. He is always very welcoming and engaging with members and staff,” shared Sandra Sarabia, Cunha Site Director. “Edwin is the first one at the Club and attends every day. He shows responsibility and respect to all,”continues Sandra. She adds that Edwin communicates well — and his peace and calmness is his Super Power!

He wants to do well in all aspects of his life. Edwin is a leader — driven, responsible, independent. For example, he has worked very hard on his schoolwork — and dramatically improved academically. Another example occurred on a particularly hectic day at the Club when Edwin offered to help out. This act meant a lot to the team because he did it without being asked —and did not expect anything in return!

Edwin is grateful for BGCC being open and offering activities. He was able to work on his assignments because he did not have internet access at home. In addition, Edwin likes the staff and space we offer to do homework and outside activities. He loves playing soccer at BGCC during the outside time!

His favorite sport is soccer, and he plays it all the time. He is part of our conditioning program and recently joined AYSO. When he grows up, Edwin would like to be a Professional Football Player.

We know his drive, determination, and leadership qualities will make him successful on and off the field!
