Member of the Month: Ceanna Oliva
Each month the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastside recognizes one young person as Member of the Month. This month it is Ceanna Oliva, an 8th grader at Cunha.
Ceanna Oliva has excellent daily attendance, outstanding grades, and exemplary participation. In addition to being studious, she is also observant, empathetic, and helpful to other students.
Ceanna’s superpower is “getting things done.” She stays focused on her assignments during the entire homework time (called Power Hour) – start to finish. She regularly checks on school assignments to make sure they are completed. She wanted to get straight A’s — and she earned straight A’s!
When she commits to something, she will keep going until it gets done.
She may not know exactly what she wants to do when she grows up, but she is determined to attend University like her mom so that she can find a good job afterward.
When she isn’t studying, Ceanna enjoys baking peanut butter cookies and cooking for her parents. She also likes to work out a lot! She is thankful for her family and friends — and the Club.
Before she started coming to BGCC she would go straight home after school and was easily distracted by her phone, making it hard to get her homework done. The Club helped her get organized and gave her structure to complete her homework – and now provides a place to hang out with friends, play volleyball, and talk with Staff. She is grateful for the BGCC staff members because “without them, none of this would happen here. They help the kids with a lot of things.” She added that she wouldn’t change anything at the Club. She enjoys everything!
Your kindness, independence, and perseverance will serve you well in college — and in life. All the best, Ceanna!
