COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING (CIT) Program Overview 2025
For rising 10th-12th grade students
Are you a high school student interested in leadership, education, or youth services? The BGCC Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program is a hands-on opportunity to build real-world skills, gain career experience, and make a positive impact in your community.
What You’ll Do:
- Volunteer at BGCC summer day camp and support younger BGCC members.
- Learn and shadow Youth Development Professionals and Managers
- Join weekly high school cohort sessions featuring college visits, guest speakers, and workforce development opportunities
- Receive community service hours and a letter of recommendation
- Gain skills for future jobs – and maybe even join BGCC as a staffer after graduation!
Program Requirements:
- Complete the online application and short essays
- Volunteer 4 hours/day for at least 2 weeks (you choose the weeks!)
- Attend a one-on-one weekly check-in with our BGCC CIT Supervisor
- Participate in CIT group meetings/outing each week on Thursdays.
- Consent to a background and reference check
- Attend all training courses
- Note: This is generally an unpaid opportunity
Important Dates:
- June 9 – CPR/First Aid Certification & New Hire Paperwork
- June 10–11 – Staff Training (10:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
- BGCC Closed: June 19 and July 4
Summer Camp Weeks
Monday – Friday
8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Location: Cunha Middle School Campus
Choose your weeks! You must commit to at least 2 full weeks:
- June 16–20 (Closed June 19)
- June 23–27
- June 30–July 3
- July 7–11
- July 14–18
- July 21st-25th Survivor Week
