Club Safety

Culture of safety

BGCC continually updates robust safety policies, programs, and training for our staff and volunteers, ensuring a culture of safety for our people and our programs. Our culture of safety includes the following components.

  • All BGCC staff and volunteers complete:
    • Federal background check
    • Live Scan fingerprint check
    • Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training
  • All BGCC staff are mandated reporters, who are required to report any critical incident/safety concerns to local authorities immediately
  • BGCC has written safety policies to protect youth that cover supervision, transportation, social media, and one-on-one contact
  • BGCC completes an annual external safety assessment to ensure compliance with safety policies and practices at our Club
  • BGCC has a Board-led Safety Committee to design and oversee local policies and safety strategies

Boys & Girls Club of the Coastside does not provide medical coverage for Club Members enrolled in our activities, including BGCC~Cunha Athletics, nor is medical coverage required.

For questions, please contact Board Member Ken Will, Chair, BGCC Safety Committee, at (650) 520-3338.
