New Education Director
The Boys and Girls Club of the Coastside (BGCC) is pleased to introduce our new Education Director, Amanda Larson. Amanda brings to the BGCC extensive experience working with young people both in formal and informal education settings including guiding young people through the development of community arts installations, tutoring and coaching.
Amanda will be supporting the after school academic homework program at Cunha and helping to grow BGCC’s teen/high school programming.
Executive Director Jill Jacobson enthuses “our staff were all involved in the selection of Amanda and we are all excited by different aspects of her background – she is an athlete, an artist, an educator and a mom. She will bring a distinctive perspective to our programs and we can’t wait for her to start.”
Amanda earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Spanish Literature at University of California, Berkeley where she was a student athlete on the Cal Women’s Swimming and Diving Team. She received her Master’s in Fine Arts at the College of the Arts (San Francisco) and her A.S. Welding Technology Degree at Cosumnes River College (Sacramento). She and her husband, Steve, live in Half Moon Bay, and have a son, August.
Most recently she has both served on the Board of Directors for Community Built Association and worked as their Conference Coordinator.
